The Chambers team has been partaking in Movember this month, in aid of raising money for men’s health, and we are delighted to announce that we have currently raised over £380! We have even joined in with the final challenge of the ‘Half-Mast Mo’, but it’s safe to say we definitely haven’t approached Movember half-heartedly!

As November draws to a close, I am sure many men have their razors at the ready, alternatively some may have taken to their new look. Nonetheless, whether the moustaches stay or go, the cause that our all our donations and fundraising have been dedicated to is undoubtedly life changing. Throughout society, there remains a dated view that centres around the perception of masculinity, which has plagued the male mindset. As a consequence, the global statistic is that 6 out of 10 suicides are men , 1 man dies from prostate cancer every 45 minutes, with many putting off going to the doctors out of embarrassment or wanting to be “tough”.

Movember is all about ‘Changing the face of masculinity’; starting with your dad or your brother, your friend, a neighbour and slowly the message will reach world wide that ‘it’s ok not to be ok’. At our office, taking part in Movember has been an eye-opening experience and it’s incredible to see the change that can take place just from everyone making a small contribution.

Today we wear the half-mast Mo to pay tribute to those who should be with us today and continue to raise awareness about this on-going crisis in men.

To speak to someone about your mental health, call the Samaritans at 116 123. If your life or the life of another is in danger, call the emergency services at 999.
